NXVision demonstrates next generation secure Placeshifting solution for legacy STBs at IBC 2008

NXVision Ltd., a provider of secure digital media solutions to business, is demonstrating its next generation secure placeshifting system at IBC 2008, Amsterdam, The Netherlands. NXVision placeshifting technology enables users to access TV Shows from their home STB and watch them on a laptop or other mobile device anytime, anywhere, making use of the advanced functionality available with media processors such as the STMicroelectronics STi7109. While certain media processors can be enabled with an embedded solution, NXVision can use the advanced technology of the STi7109 to provide a low cost add-on product to enable legacy set-top boxes already deployed.

NXVision Ltd is the leading provider of secure Placeshifting solutions to its business partners. The NXVision secure Placeshifting system enables users to access their set-top box content (live and pre-recorded) anywhere, in-home or around the world. The system takes broadcast quality TV content and modifies it for display on portable devices and then sends it to an authorised connected device. The system is point to point, allowing full dynamic control of quality of service, enabling the service to be easily scaled without the need for new broadcast infrastructure. The content is fully protected as it uses the existing Conditional Access (CA) in the STB, and mobile DRM where required.

NXVision technology can be supplied as an add-on, or dongle connected to the USB or Ethernet port of a legacy STB. This low cost solution allows NXVision’s business customers to offer a chargeable, value add product to their customers. The NXVision solution is fully digital, enabling an enhanced service to the end customer, and full visibility and control of content movement to the operator.

In addition to the placeshifting technology being demonstrated at IBC, NXVision supplies the software for mobile devices, as well as managing the end-to-end system ensuring that it is easy for the end customer to use at all times.
